FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Veronica officinalis, Heath Speedwell, Hárdepla

Veronica officinalis; The Heath Speedwell generally does not grow in the central highland regions but rather along more or less coastal regions of the west, the southern Skaftafell/Höfn regions, the eastern fjords an some northern areas. The dentated leaves sets this speedwell species apart from other speedwells.
Traditionally speedwell species have been classified in the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae) but recently they have been included in the plantain family (Plantaginaceae). The Icelandic name of this species is Hárdepla.
