Carex paupercula; The Tall Bog-sedge is sedge characterized by a more or less erect male spike on top of the culm (does bend lateral in time) with two or three drooping female spikes on rather long stalks. As such it strongly resembles the Common Bog-sedge (Carex limosa). They differ in the bract's of the female spikes. In the Tall Bog-sedge these are far longer than the utricles where as in the Common Bog-sedge these are just as long or only just a bit longer than the utricles. The Tall Bog-sedge is rather rare and has been found in western and eastern coastal regions and regions in the north from Siglufjörður to Mývatn. The Common Bog-sedge is more common and has been found in most lowland regions. Both grow in wetlands .
Both are members of the sedge family (Cyperaceae).
