FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Jacobaea pseudoarnica, Seaside Groundsel, Seaside Ragwort, Stormþulur

Jacobaea pseudoarnica; The Seaside Groundsel, Seaside Ragwort is a rather tall perennial herb, up to 60cm tall.
  - The leaves are entire, dentated and ovate in shape. They are hairy on the bottom and on the top on the nerves, especially on young leaves.
  - On top of the stems are several yellow daisy flower heads. They are made up of tubular florets and one outer row of ligulate florets. Under the standard flower head bracts is a row of long thread-like bracts spreading around and over the flower heads.
  - It grows along the seaside above the normal high tide level both on stony and sandy soils. It is an introduced (American) species, now occurring in many localities around the coast of Iceland. Botanists on Iceland fear its invasive character that could endanger local floral elements. See this publication.
  - It is a member of the Asteraceae, the daisy family. The Icelandic name for this species is Stormþulur but sometimes the name Stormkambur is used.
