FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Larix siberica, Siberian Larch, Síberíulerki

Larix siberica;  the Siberian Larch is a common introduced larch species.
Like all larch species, it is a deciduous tree with leaves growing in whorls of 20-40 leaves on short stems - except for the stem's top-shoot where the leaves are spaced evenly along the shoot.
The cones are rather small: 2 to 3cm.
Next to forestation projects, it is planted near homesteads. It can also be found (naturalized) in heath lands and vegetated lava fields.
It is member of the Pinaceae, the Pine Family. The Icelandic name for this species is Síberíulerki.
