Laugarvegur hike on Iceland

The Laugarvegur hiking trail in southern Iceland is a popular and very interesting. There is the normal stretch which takes four days to complete and there is the extended stretch which takes 6 days. The first is relatively easy to do with two small steep sections, the latter is slightly tougher as one has to traverse the mountain pass between the Mýrdallsjökull and Eyafjallajökull glaciers. Most people take the normal stretch from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk. One can take a bus to Landmannalaugar from Reykjavík and pick up a bus at Þórsmörk back to Reykjavík. The extended section runs from Þórsmörk to Skógar at the coast (with regular bus services). In this slide show I will take you along the extended walk in the opposite direction: from Skógar to Landmannalaugar.
