Senecio vulgaris; The Groundsel is an introduced annual weedy species, growing on hoed grounds and other disturbed soils. As such it grows in populated areas (gardens, vegetable plots) and along road-sides. It is a member of a large group within the daisy family. However, it is the only representative of the Senecio group which is more or less common on Iceland.
It is a member of the Asteraceae family (= Compositae ), the daisy family. The Icelandic name of this species is Krossfífill.
